Air Pacific Gains IOSA Accrediation
05 March 2009

Air Pacific has passed the stringent international IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) achieving IOSA registration.

The IOSA programme is a comprehensive evaluation system designed to assess the operational standards and control systems of an airline. IOSA uses internationally recognised quality audit principles to evaluate and ensure airlines achieve and maintain the highest and most consistent operational safety standards.

The IOSA audit focuses on key aspects of airline operations, including:

•    Corporate organisation and management
•    Engineering and maintenance
•    Flight operations
•    Operational control / flight despatch
•    Operational security
•    Ground handling
•    Cabin operations
•    Cargo operations

Since the programme’s launch over five years ago, over 700 airline audits have been conducted with 316 airlines awarded IOSA accreditation.  Air Pacific has completed the audit to be awarded IOSA registration, an industry-recognized airline operational safety achievement.

The IOSA audit provides efficiencies to Air Pacific by eliminating multiple and often duplicate audits otherwise required of the aviation industry.  The findings of the IOSA audit provide increased operational flexibility as well as recognition of quality standards that are recognised globally.  Air Pacific will undergo IOSA audits every two years and must maintain, and will strive to improve, standards to retain IOSA registration.

Air Pacific’s Managing Director and CEO, John Campbell, said “With 58 years of operation without an accident or major incident and the achievement of IOSA registration, we are in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead with introduction of our B787 Dreamliner aircraft and the initiation of new routes.  Fiji can be proud of the high standard achieved by its international airline and the staff who maintain those standards.

Air Pacific, Fiji’s international airline, operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft to 18 destinations in 12 countries.
